They reunited towards the end of 2013 and speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on her US talk show Michael, 70, said their issues were not unique to them.
“If both of you are willing to do it, it can’t be a one-way street,” he said.
“But I’m crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we’re in the public eye and it tends to get a little more exposed than most.”
Michael and Catherine have two children – Dylan, 14, and Carys, 11, and the Wall Street star revealed that Dylan is hoping to follow him into Hollywood. “He wants to be an actor, there’s no question about it,” said Michael.
“He came to me the other day and said: ‘Dad, look, I was president of the class this last year, I made the honour roll, you saw me in the musical Oliver. So maybe you could throw me a bone… get me an acting job.’ “He’s a really good actor.”
